Inserting Pictures

To display a picture in an article, you must first add it to the site and then insert it into the article.

*  If you want to add a picture to your site and insert it in the current article all at once, simply drag the picture file from Windows into the article. You're done. Thank you. You can go home now.
For more control over the exact appearance of the picture:

*  First add a picture to the site by dragging the file into the main window, or choose the Insert » Picture command from the main window.

If the picture you want is on the clipboard, simply choose Edit » Paste from the main window to create a new picture file named Clipboard.PNG. You can then rename the picture or edit it using the built-in editor.

The picture will be added wherever you drop it. You may wish to create a folder to organize your pictures, but CityDesk doesn't really care where you put them. (In fact you can freely move pictures around your site or rename them, and CityDesk automatically adjusts existing links if necessary.)

CityDesk supports GIF, JPG, PNG, and BMP pictures. If you have a choice, JPG is the best format for photographs and PNG is the best format for line art.

If you need to resize or crop the picture so that it fits, double click on the picture inside CityDesk to edit it. If the pictures are in JPG or PNG format, you can edit them using the built-in picture editor. For other picture formats, you must use an external editor.

*  Edit the article where you want your picture to appear. Move the blinking insertion point to the position where you want the picture to appear.

*  Click on the Insert Picture tool [Image] or choose Insert » Picture. The Insert Picture dialog appears.

*  Choose the name of the picture from the drop down box, which lists all the pictures in your site. If the picture is not in your site yet, click Import File and import it now.

*  Set the properties of your picture and click OK.

Notes:

To change the appearance of the picture after it has been inserted:

*  Right-click on the picture and choose Properties

or

*  Select the picture and choose Insert » Picture again.

If you edit the picture itself, either in an external editor or with CityDesk's built in editor, and the picture's size has changed, you should delete it from the article and reinsert it so that the calculated height and width are correct. Otherwise the picture will appear stretched to fit the original height and width.
