The Properties Tab

The Properties Tab is where you supply additional information about an article beyond the body.

The Headline field is used for a headline.

The Author field is used for the name of the author of the article.

Filed Date keeps track of when this article was created. It will be initialized correctly when you create the article, so you normally don't have to worry about this, but you can change the date by editing the field directly, or by clicking on the arrow next to it, which pops up a small calendar.

Last Modified is set to the current time (according to your computer's clock) whenever you save this article.

Never Publish Before, normally turned off, is used to embargo an article. Never Publish After, normally turned off, is used to expire an article. To learn more, see Never Publish Before or After.

The Keywords section lets you provide a list of words, separated by spaces, that can be searched later for information about this article. For example, if you are creating a business web site, you might want to use company stock ticker symbols as keywords so that it's easy to find all articles about a particular company later. See Using Keywords Effectively.

The Audience dropdown lets you determine whether this article is intended to be read by all audiences or only by a particular audience. For more on audiences, see Creating a Site for Different Audiences.

The Template dropdown lets you choose a template for the current article, which determines how it will look when it is published. Many sites will only have one template, if all articles look the same. But some sites will have different templates for different types of articles (for example, a movie review might look different than a news item), or you might just provide several different templates for variety. See Creating Templates.

If no template is chosen, only the body of the article will be published, without any formatting at all.
