Never Publish Before or After

Every article has two dates associated with it: Never Publish Before and Never Publish After. These dates are set in the Properties tab of the article editor.

Never Publish Before, normally turned off, is used to embargo an article. If you specify a date here and check the box, CityDesk will not publish the article until that date. This is a good way to prepare a bunch of articles in advance of actually publishing them on the web.

Never Publish After, normally turned off, is used to expire an article. If you specify a date here and check the box, CityDesk will not publish the article after that date. This allows you to create articles which will not appear after a certain date.

Both of these features can be turned on or off by checking the boxes.

Note that if you use Never Publish Before and/or Never Publish After dates, CityDesk will not actively remove or add articles from your web server. You still have to publish the site to the web server on the day in question for the changes to appear.

Using the Publish Command, it's possible to prepare a version of your site for any date in the future or the past. When you choose File » Publish, you'll see a radio button providing an option to publish for any day in the future or past. (The default is to publish for today.) This comes in handy if you want to proofread tomorrow's edition, for example, or figure out what your web site looked like on some day in the past.
