Editions of CityDeskCityDesk comes in three different editions.
To find out which version you have:
In the main window, choose Help » About CityDesk
The Starter Edition is a free version for making small sites or for trying out CityDesk. You can use it to publish a site containing up to 50 files (including articles, pictures, etc.). To determine how many files are in your site, choose File » Properties in the main window.
The Professional Edition is the full version. It supports websites of any size and allows you to design and create CityDesk sites. The only difference between the Professional Edition and the Starter Edition is that the Professional Edition can publish any number of files.
The Contributor Edition is a simplified version of CityDesk for people who need to add, edit, and delete articles in a web site, but who do not need to change the formatting of the web site, design the web site, or change the server where the site will be published. This version supports any size web site but does not allow you to go into Designer Mode. The only difference between the Professional Edition and the Contributor Edition is that the Contributor Edition does not have Designer Mode.
Which Version is for Me?
- If you're just getting started, use the free Starter Edition as a demo version. If you like CityDesk, upgrade to the Professional Edition.
- Home users with small web sites consisting of no more than 50 files total can use the Starter Edition.
- Power users, people with larger web sites, and webloggers creating new content every day will want the Professional Edition.
- On a larger team, purchase the Professional Edition for designers and webmasters who need to control every aspect of the site, and purchase a copy of the Contributor Edition for those people who simply add, edit, and remove content but who do not need to design the site, manage navigation, etc.
- Web Designers who wish to create sites which their clients can update should purchase the Professional Edition for themselves, and the Contributor Edition for their clients.
