CityDesk 2.0-Documentation
Importing Other Types of Files

CityDesk lets you import any file you want into your site. Besides picture files, your web site may contain HTML pages, Shockwave Flash movies, PDF files, text files, Word documents, server-side scripts (ASP, JSP, perl, Cold Fusion, etc), basically anything you need to put on your web server.

To import any type of file into CityDesk:

*  In the main window, choose Insert » File.

*  Locate the file you want to insert and click Open.

Or:

*  Drag the file into the main window.

After you've inserted the file, you can still double click on it to edit it. CityDesk will look at the  file's extension (the letters after the dot, like .html for HTML files) to decide which program to use for editing it. You can edit the list of rules for which editor to use.

To control what CityDesk does when you double click on a file:

*  Make sure you are in Designer Mode.

*  Choose View » File Types.

A dialog will appear listing each of the file extensions that CityDesk knows about.

For each extension, you can modify two settings:

  1. The behavior when you double-click on such a file in the main window. Use this to customize which editor CityDesk uses for this file type.
  2. Whether such a file can contain CityScript code

To modify the settings for a file type that is already on the list:

*  Select the file type and click Edit, provide the information, and click OK.

By default, CityDesk knows about common web file types such as HTML, ASP, CFM, GIF, JPG, etc. But you can easily add additional file types. To add a new file type to the list of extensions that CityDesk recognizes:

*  Click Add, provide the information, and click OK.

To remove a file type from the list:

*  Select the file type and click Delete.
