Lesson 2 - Previewing the Site

The Preview command lets you see what your site will look like without publishing it to a web server. It publishes a complete copy of your site into a temporary directory on your own hard drive and shows it to you in a web browser.

*  In the main window, click on the Preview tool on the toolbar:

A status window appears showing the publish progress. CityDesk is combining the plain text of all the articles on your site with a template to generate complete HTML pages.

When everything is done, a button appears which lets you preview your site using Microsoft Internet Explorer.

*  Click on the Internet Explorer button. Have a look around this simple site, with only one article.

Don't worry if you don't like the format of the default site. It is supposed to be plain and boring. You will be able to modify the template in any way you like later.

*  Close the web browser and click the Close button on the Publish window.

In the next lesson, we'll add another article.
