System Requirements

Fog Creek CityDesk runs on Microsoft Windows compatible computers only. We do not currently have any plans for a Macintosh version of CityDesk.

We recommend:

Hardware

  • A Pentium-class computer, running at 166 MHz or faster
  • At least 64 MB of main memory (128 MB recommended)
  • About 20 MB of free hard-drive space
  • A screen capable of displaying High Color (16 bits) or more

Software

  • Any of the following versions of Microsoft Windows:
    • Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition (SE)
    • Microsoft Windows Me
    • Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 (Workstation or Server)
    • Microsoft Windows 2000 (Professional, Server, Advanced Server, Datacenter)
    • Microsoft Windows XP (Home, Professional)
  • CityDesk will not run on Macintosh OS X.  At this time we have no plans for a Macintosh version.
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 or later must be installed. We highly recommend Internet Explorer 5.5 or later. (It does not need to be the default browser.) Internet Explorer is needed for shared components; as for viewing your CityDesk-generated pages, you can use any browser you like.

Internet

  • A connection to the Internet, if you wish to upload files to a web server.

International Support

  • CityDesk runs on most international versions of Windows, although it has not been tested on all of them.
  • CityDesk can be used to create sites in any language supported by your operating system, including right-to-left languages.
  • The CityDesk user interface is currently only available in English.
  • More languages will be available soon.
