What's New in Service Pack 1?
CityDesk Service Pack 1 (SP1) is a free, interim release to fix bugs. It also contains a few minor feature improvements.
New Features
- Articles are published using their actual name (or an approximation thereof) instead of using the "fog0000000001.html" name. More details
- Publishing is 20% to 30% faster.
- The editor now remembers your cursor location and selection when you switch between Normal and HTML view.
- You can now change the properties of an image after it has been inserted.
- A new checkbox lets you create links which open in a new browser window.
- Importing is easier with new menu commands. More details. It also preserves file names if possible instead of trying to make up new ones.
- CityDesk no longer automatically clears the "translated" checkbox when you change the text in the primary language. Instead, it prompts. This makes multilingual sites easier to manage.
New CityScript Features
- Using the new if block feature, you can turn on and off blocks depending on whether a field is empty. More details
- A new feature allows you to list all articles in a range of dates, for example, all articles in the last 14 days. More details
- and and or accept any number of conditions, not just 2.
- The new .abslink field returns the complete link of an article, not just the relative link. This makes it easy to create links from one language to another or from one template family to another (for example, your templates can now include a link from each article to the printer-friendly version of the same article.)
- CityScript can now be nested to any level. For example, an article may reference a variable which contains a foreach loop which brings up articles which contain variables, all containing CityScript. (In the past, it could only be nested 2 levels deep).
Bug Fixes
-
A bug which caused bytes at the end of a file to be duplicated (so you would see something like </HTML>ML>) has been fixed.
-
A
bug which caused all text to disappear when switching from HTML View to Normal View has been fixed.
-
A couple of bugs which caused CityDesk to publish all files sometimes, when it could have only published changed files, have been fixed.
- Working with external editors is more reliable. CityDesk will always pick up saved changes when you switch back to CityDesk.
-
CityDesk now checks for missing components (DLLs, etc) and notifies you exactly what's missing.
-
About 100 small bugs, crashes, etc. have been fixed.
-
Version 1.0.29 differs from 1.0.27 only in one tiny bug fix. If you are experiencing crashes when you exit CityDesk, upgrade to 1.0.29. Otherwise, 1.0.27 is fine.
