Customer Testimonials
I want to let you know that our employees are really happy with the software. It is so easy to use and makes it easy to communicate project status to our managers. What a business tool!
Cindy Dotson Wincore Windows
I've been a software developer and manager since the early nineties and a frequent reader of your essays, rants, etc. I have been persistently dissatisfied with the software planning tools available as both a developer and project manager. Great project plans quickly grow out of sync with actual development and are usually abandoned. Bug tracking software gives a great perspective on what tiny tasks the programmers have before them, but no real tools to do planning.
And then came FogBugz... I really love this product. As a developer, I find it easy, intuitive, and, most importantly, non-intrusive to my work-flow. The usually hated task of estimating and tracking effort has now become fun. Yeah, fun! As a project manager, I have the important tools to predict releases, and I'm not fighting to reconcile an outdated plan with the news from the front. I am still working on team buy-in, but it's much easier to do when I actually believe in the product.

Over the past three years FogBugz has been instrumental in tracking over 21,000 problems, tasks, and issues across 75 projects at JELD-WEN. It has centralized communication for several different developer and tester communities, and streamlined our software development lifecycle. It has become an integral part of our process.
David Thompson, JELD-WEN Windows & Doors
FogBugz has been a dream tool for our game development process. It's a flexible yet robust bug tracker that is easy to set up and a snap to use. We had been searching for this solution for more than a year. Thank goodness we found FogBugz!

What makes FogBugz better than other bug and issue tracking systems is its simplicity. Everything in FogBugz - the interface, the functionality, the process flow - is tuned for efficiency, both of the product itself and of the product development team using it.
Ben Trott, Six Apart
We have installed it on our server and our support staff LOVES it. It was easy to install and setup, and most importantly, is very easy to use. The fact that it keeps track of all of the correspondence related to an issue satisfies the number one problem with our old "Outlook" method of support. Our customers also like the fact that they can check the status of a support issue at any time.

Fogbugz is an integral part of our everyday task management here at 2K Australia. We chose Fogbugz because it has the very best interface for those people who need it most, the developers who fix the bugs, implement the features, and answer inquirers.
Jay Kyburz, 2K Australia
Groove originally chose FogBugz to track our internal bug reports and feature requests because of its streamlined process. We loved its elegant interface so much that we then started having our customers use it for tracking support cases as well. Having all of those things in one central place is a huge efficiency gain for us. With FogBugz, FogCreek has achieved a combination of deep, flexible capabilities yet simple UI that is hard to beat.

I like the FogBugz system because of its underlying philosophy and clean UI design. It improves the accuracy and relevance of the information getting into our database. It keeps things simple and focuses my team on getting the job done while providing a standard structure and bi-directional link with our source code control system.
Nate Parsons, Mindshare Interactive
FogBugz has helped us work more efficiently by managing critical tasks and issues for our web team. It's very customizable interface made it easy to integrate into our workflow with a low learning curve. FogBugz has allowed us to centralize issue collection and assignment, freeing up our developers to do what they do best.
Angela C. Buraglia, Lynda.com
We had to help out a customer as hired guns - very tight deadline, project state unknown, no infrastructure whatsoever. The first thing we did was install a code versioning system and FogBugz. The first cases was entered after less than 30 minutes, and after one day, most of the communication was done via FogBugz. The productivity boost was awesome. Now, after just five months, FogBugz is an integral part of our customer's IT structure, saving heaps of time, money and nerves.

We chose FogBugz to replace our Bugzilla installation because we needed a product that was easy for both our clients and our account management staff to use. Fogbugz has sped up our turn around time on identifying and resolving defects and feature requests. The interface is so much cleaner and easier to use than Bugzilla that even our design staff has liked using the system. Furthermore the ability to add bugs into the system easily via email and web-forms has made our lives much easier.
Jan Klube, DeviceScape
We've been very happy with Fogbugz since we purchased it 2 or 3 weeks ago. It's a very nice piece of software, and both our very technical and less technical staff have adapted to using it very comfortably.
You might like to know that for the last few weeks it's rare that a day goes by without someone saying "FogBugz is great" or something of the like.
Simon Green, Prize Fight
I purchased FogBugz, downloaded it and installed it (along with IIS and SQL Server 2000) on a Windows 2003 Server here at Cornerstone Software. I did all of this in about four hours on a Sunday afternoon. Today is Tuesday and 20 developers are now using your product to track problems with a recently developed set of applications that went into code freeze on Friday. The most valuable feature of this thing is its simplicity.
David Volpi, Cornerstone Software Development Inc.
FogBugz is the perfect bug tracking system for the Six Degrees development team. It's a light-weight, low-infrastructure approach to bug tracking that complements our XP development process. We have developers in both Denver and Vancouver, so a browser-based application is just right.
FogBugz was easy to set up. It only took a couple of minutes to get it running and required no training to use. FogBugz is immediately intuitive to the first time user, a Joel Spolsky user interface at its finest.
FogBugz has all the features you would expect to support your software development efforts, and none of the useless gimcrack that makes other bug tracking systems a chore to use. Less is truly more with FogBugz.

When you have a small software development and consultancy company like mine, you need a fast, reliable and easy to use bug, feature and inquiry tracking solution like FogBugz.
I use FogBugz throughout the entire development life cycle of my software, from planning and thinking about features requested by my customers or that pop into my mind at any time, through design, build, test and release.
All my customer support requests are available to me from FogBugz, regardless of whether they come in via email, my contact page or a crash report, with FogBugz I'm confident that I'm looking after my customers as best I can.
FogBugz does it all without any fuss, and most importantly without getting in my way, it works for me, helping me get on with my core business, developing software.
Ian M. Jones, IMiJ Software
I am writing to let you know how much we value your product. As a result of using FogBugz, we have significantly improved our company's project management process and overall operations. In fact, one of our clients was so impressed that they recently bought FogBugz for themselves.
Thanks for a great product and outstanding support. Best wishes for continued success.
John Jackson, DecisionStep, Inc.
We installed our new bug tracking system last week, and are thrilled to pieces! We ended up getting FogBugz - which has pretty good reviews and a nice feature set. (And is created by Joel of Joel on Software fame...)
One of the things I liked about it is that it doesn't force you to obey a bunch of rules when entering bugs. The FogBugz people, like myself, feel that it is better to get the bug into the system than to have dozens of little fields that have to be filled out before the bug is accepted. We're using it for tracking features and new product development as well as bugs in existing systems. It's a LOT nicer than ClearQuest!
Other cool stuff - you can submit bugs by email, it has a built-in discussion board, anonymous users can submit bugs, it creates release notes automatically, and it is very easy to use.
The install went really well - it created the SQL server tables that it needed, added itself to IIS, and created its background service, all without intervention or trouble. I wish all server installs were this easy!
Rich Loen, InGenius
I had been using Bugzilla for a while but I really wasn't liking how it was laid out. So I gave FogBugz a try. It only took me 15 minutes to realize what I was missing. I bought it right away.
After a minor hiccup installing due to the unique environment on my main hosting server, FogBugz is crusing like a Caddy up I5 to Seattle. I have countless projects on the table currently, and Support Ticket needs with clients that I have been able to easily organize under one roof.
This might be a bag on my organization skills, but I've gotten more done this week using FogBugz than I have during the whole month of May. My productivity has gone through the roof.
Thanks a lot for putting your love into this product. Keep up the great work!

FogBugz has helped TechSmith centralize Web project management in ways never before possible. Thanks to the email submission and Web-based interface, sharing, assigning and prioritizing tasks has never been easier. It's been so successful for our Web team that our Network Administrator bought a copy for his team, too!
Jennifer Dyni, TechSmith Corporation
Hi Joel and all the FogBugz team,
Bought it and love it. Even though we're a small nonprofit and like to do everything for free, I had no qualms paying the full price for such an excellent product. Thanks for making it!
Robert Brewer, Amor Ministries
Hello Joel
I have been reading your articles and books for a few years now, and last year tried out the previous version of FogBugz. I was underwhelmed (I do not remember why, but it was not as good as I thought a product from someone like you should be). Your writing certainly inflates expectations :)
However, in the last few days I have been trying out version 6.0--and it rocks. Really. I have been trying out various systems and working with FogBugz has been a distinct pleasure. I even enjoy reading help, since it is actually [gasp] helpful. I am not sorry I am gushing praise - you and your team have really created something that betrays things rarely found in the industry :)
- While the UI could be prettier, it is amazingly functional. Clearly the team thought a lot, and then some more, on how this is to be used.
- You really understand bug tracking. Most other applications have forms and lists and reports, but they either have too many fields, or too few, or expectme to spend weeks customizing. I just want to enter my tasks/cases and get on with it.
- "Working on" feature is brilliant.
I do wonder about some features - if they are missing, not needed, or I just cannot find them. I would be happy to provide a list, but was not sure if this is the right forum for that.
Again - thanks for a great product. Now I just need to convince my company to buy enough licenses. :)
