Internet Explorer 6.0 users cannot log in

If you are using FogBugz On Demand, disregard this guide and contact us.  This article is meant for Licensed FogBugz.

Problem: Internet Explorer 6.0 users cannot login if there's an underscore or hyphen in server URL.

Version: Internet Explorer 6.0 (patch for MS01-055 issues installed)

Fix: If you are accessing FogBugz through a server on the local intranet (ie. http://local_machine) and the machine has an underscore or hyphen character in its name, you may experience problems with IE 6.  See this post on Usenet and this Microsoft KB article for more information.  The workaround is to assign an alias to the machine without an underscore character.

Also always check that the date is set correctly on the client machine when experiencing cookie problems.  It may be that the clock is set way in the future and all cookies are expiring immediately.

Also: Some users have also found that turning off the setting: Tools->Options->Connections->LAN Settings->Bypass proxy server for local addresses will let FogBugz receive the cookie it needs to log you on. ( See this knowledge base article for a fix.)
