Windows XP SP2 Makes FogBugz Inaccessible From Other Computers

Symptoms:

FogBugz was working fine on Windows XP. Then you installed the XP Service Pack 2 update. After installing the update, attempting to connect to FogBugz from another computer on the network fails.

Problem:

XP SP2 now includes a firewall. By default, that firewall blocks access to port 80.

Solution:

  1. Open the Network Connections control panel.
  2. Right-click on the connection marked Local Area Connection and choose Properties
  3. In the dialog which appears, go to the Advanced tab. You will see a section marked Windows Firewall. Click Settings to configure the Windows Firewall.
  4. A Windows Firewall dialog appears. Go into the Exceptions tab.
  5. Click Add Port...
  6. For the Name, type HTTP. For the Port number, type 80.
  7. Click OK to dismiss all the dialogs.
