How Fog Creek Calculates The Price of Maintenance Contracts

FogBugz maintenance contract pricing is simple: it's just $0.10 (ten US cents) per user per day. For example, if you have licenses for five FogBugz users, maintenance will cost $0.50 per day. If you later add five more user licenses, from that day onward your maintenance cost is $1.00 per day.

At the time of your first license purchase you can elect to purchase a maintenance contract. If you want to purchase more licenses during the time that your maintenance contract is active, the maintenance cost for the new licenses will be added to your purchase (again, that's $0.10 per user per day). Your maintenance contract expiration date will not change.

If you do not elect to purchase a maintenance contract when you first buy FogBugz, you are still covered by a 90 day period of installation support.

If A Maintenance Contract Expires

Although we do allow you to renew your maintenance after it has expired, in order to do that, we require you to purchase "backdated" maintenance for the time during which the contract was expired. (Think of a maintenance contract like car insurance: you can't drive around without insurance and then buy insurance only on the day when you get in an accident!) In short, if it expires, you can still renew and extend it, and that extension picks up from the date of expiration.
