Maintain an Agile/Scrum backlog of cases for each project

The Project Backlog (often called the "Product Backlog") is central to Scrum and Agile project management practices. It's essentially a feature wish list sorted by order of implementation.

The Project Backlog Plugin allows you to manage a backlog without ever leaving the FogBugz grid view. You can assign a case an order in the backlog just by clicking on the case's "Backlog" column, and when the grid view is sorted by Backlog, a set of arrow controls appear allowing you to move cases up or down in the order with the click of a mouse.

After you've installed the Project Backlog plugin, just add the "Project Backlog" column when you're looking at the grid view ("List Cases"), and then click on that column's header to sort things by their backlog value.

  • Version 1.3.0.1

Released on 12/17/2010 for API 3.5

Project Backlog will no longer record bug events when nothing has actually changed (e.g., trying to set a case in the backlog to an invalid position in the backlog).

The "Check and Repair" functionality is now much easier to get to (Admin -> Plugins -> Click on the "Edit" icon next to the Project Backlog plugin).

You can now add a case to a project's backlog while also changing the project the case belongs to (previously, this would not result in the case being added to the project's backlog).

Bulk editing cases across multiple projects that each have their own respective backlog will no longer corrupt the backlogs of any of the projects involved.

Fixed a bug where the Project Backlog plugin would modify the sort-order of the current filter when sorting the grid view by certain plugin-provided columns (i.e., a column provided by a plugin other than Project Backlog plugin).

    Install Version 1.3.0.1

This version requires FogBugz 7.3 or higher.

  • Version 1.2.3

Released on 8/25/2010 for API 3.5

Project Backlog will no longer throw errors when trying to sort a shared filter not owned by the current user by the Project Backlog column.

Fixed the periodic "ProjectBacklog is Undefined" error when loading the grid view.

    Install Version 1.2.3

This version requires FogBugz 7.3 or higher.

  • Version 1.2

Released on 5/10/2010 for API 3.5

Ajax editing in grid view! Backlog values can now be modified in the grid view without requiring a page refresh between edits!

On upgrade to version 1.2 of the Project Backlog Plugin a database repair script will correct any corrupted backlog orderings in your database (negative values, duplicate values, etc.).

When viewing/editing a case with a backlog value there are now helping links for adding/moving a case to the top/bottom of the backlog. You can also modify the backlog order of a case when viewing it (i.e. without having to switch into edit mode).

The add/edit project backlog order dialog displayed in the grid view now includes additional information: the project the case belongs to and how many cases are in the backlog for that project.

Whenever the grid view is sorted by the Project Backlog column it is now implicitly sorted by Project first *and then* by backlog. This is because backlog values are per-project and can be confusing if not sorted by project first.

Fixed extra vertical spacing when displaying the Project Backlog column in the grid view. Rows with a backlog value should now be the same height as those without (verified in FireFox, Chrome, IE, Safari, & Opera).

All known bugs that could result in a corrupted backlog order (negative values, duplicate values, etc.) have been fixed.
