The Extras Tab

The Extras Tab provides space for five additional blocks of text. Their exact meaning depends on the template that you use for the article.

Teaser - normally used to provide a couple of sentences which appear in the table of contents to entice people to read the full story

Sidebar - normally used to provide an additional, short article which appears on the side of the main article

About the Author - normally used to provide a brief bio of the author

Extra 1 and Extra 2 - available for just about anything you want to use them for.

These blocks of text may or may not appear in a given template, and their exact meaning depends on their position in the template. For example, you may have a template that displays the About the Author field at the bottom of the article, while another template doesn't display About the Author anywhere. How these five fields are used and where they appear is completely up to the discretion of the template designer.

The template designer can change the labels used for each of these fields and can even prevent certain fields from appearing with articles from certain templates. See Template Properties.
