CityDesk 2.0-Documentation
The Languages DialogThe Languages Dialog controls the list of languages in which your site appears (see Creating a Multilingual Site for more on this).
To display the Languages Dialog:
Make sure you are in Designer Mode.
In the main window, choose View » Languages or click on the Languages tool in the toolbar:
LanguagesA list of languages appears, in alphabetical order.
Exactly one language in the list is the primary language. You can recognize it by the (Primary) label. The primary language is the one that CityDesk assumes will be the source for all translations. See Creating a Multilingual Site for more details on what this means.
Confusingly, you can't make a different language primary, but you can rename the primary language. For example, if your site is originally published in French and then translated to English, rename "English" to "French" and then add "English" as another language.
To rename a language:
Select the language and click Rename.
Edit the name of the language or choose one of the languages from the drop down list.
If the language reads from right to left, such as Arabic or Hebrew, ensure that the right-to-left checkbox is checked.
Click OK.
You can use any language name you want, although if you want CityDeskto be able to format dates and times in this language, you must choose one of CityDesk's recognized languages from the drop down list.
To add a new language to the site:
Click Add.
Type a name for the language or choose one of the languages from the drop down list.
If the language reads from right to left, such as Arabic or Hebrew, ensure that the checkbox is checked.
Click OK.
You can use any language name you want, although if you want CityDeskto be able to format dates and times in this language, you must choose one of CityDesk's recognized languages from the drop down list.
To delete a language from the site:
Select the language and click Delete. Confirm the dialog.
This will delete all translations into that language from your site irrevocably. If you have spent the last 16 years translating the 2,000,000 articles in your site into Icelandic, and you delete Icelandic, you just lost 2,000,000 translations permanently. So make sure you know what you're doing. (And keep backups!)
When you have finished:
Click Done.
CityDesk supports Unicode, so it can handle any alphabet that your computer can handle. SeeUnicode and Character Set Issues.
